Traces of early 'man' (including women!) in Britain suggest occasional
visits during the warmer periods within the Anglian glaciation, and during
what is known as the Hoxnian interglacial period. Two distinct early Prehistoric
cultures can be recognised in the Dartford area hundreds of thousands
of years old. Each culture had its own different tool-making technologies.
These cultural traditions are known as the Clactonian and the Acheulian.
